A Coral Room

CURATED BY JAMIE DANIELLE HARDY
OCTOBER 12th - OCTOBER 19, 2017

The first installment of Amplify’s Generator Grants program, A Coral Room, curated by Jamie Danielle Hardy, examines collaborative art practices’ influence on building community. Hardy considers location and proximity as contingent factors in establishing collaborative partnerships and sees Omaha’s central location as a crossroads where ideas are exchanged and circulated. As the city develops, and more people shore themselves up here, those ideas, actions, changes, motivations, and passions become a reef that grows with each new sketched pattern, built structure, written word, looped sound, etc.

Participating artists were invited to contribute work in hues of coral to an expanding installation located in Hardy’s apartment over a two week period. Each artist consented that their work could also be built upon or manipulated by those that follow to construct a conversation free of reductive, diametrically opposed points of view.
