I Like Your Work

CURATED BY SARAH HUMMEL JONES
APRIL 13TH - MAY 4TH, 2018

What happens when art behaves badly; when material and form lose their polite disposition and devolve into unruly, un-ornamental, uncompromising affronts? How does the etiquette of viewing adjust to respond when artists break with aesthetic tradition?

For I Like Your WorkSarah Hummel Jones brings together artists from Brooklyn, Montreal, and Omaha whose work pivots toward an art world that is now more socially professional and professionally social than ever before. Kari Cholnoky, Davey Gilles, Dante Lentz, and Nadege Roscoe-Rumjahn challenge the ways in which social mores mediate our critical discussions and frame our experience of art with works that repel viewers just as much as they draw them in.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Joel Damon, co-founder of Project Project, will give a performative lecture at Amplify detailing all the highs and lows of art world etiquette Friday, April 27th at 7:00PM.
