The Alternate Currents Working Group (ACWG) is a cohort of 10 artists, organizers, educators, and culture workers who meet the second Wednesday of each month over the course of a year to develop work around a central theme. Working Group members receive a $1,500 honorarium and become part of robust support network of peers seeking to open their practices to collaboration, critical feedback, and alternative working processes.
In 2022, ACWG will work in response to the idea of “place” and the civic histories, memories, oral traditions, notions of land ownership, the visual language of activism, and human or more-than-human relationships that define place. Working throughout the year to better understand a place of their choosing, Working Group members will focus on creating site-specific or site-informed work that can be documented and anthologized in a collaborative year-end publication.
