Slow Lab initiatives emphasize process over product to explore liberatory ideas across creative disciplines and forge pathways toward more just and equitable futures.
Amplify’s Slow Lab incubates initiatives rooted in collaboration and research. It dedicates attention and organizational resources to the kind of systems level work that takes time.
Public Art Partnerships
Public Art Partnerships build cross-sector coalitions to create open and transparent public calls for paid artist opportunities that enhance the city’s profile as a place where artists are valued as community builders.
Organizational Change
Our staff, board, community advisory group, and program participants share the power to influence the direction of our organization and programming. Through shared decision-making, we create a sense of belonging and put equity, accountability, and transparency into practice — modeling the broader movement we support in Omaha’s arts ecosystem.
Data and Research
Amplify prioritizes understanding the individual, and collective needs, of artists, organizers, and cultural workers who make our city a more vibrant, thoughtful, and inclusive place. We take both micro and macro approaches to data gathering initiatives that inform our flexible and responsive program design.
Fiscal Sponsorship
Fiscal sponsorship is a contractual relationship between a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a group or individual whose activities fall within the sponsoring organization's mission. Through fiscal sponsorship, artists, organizers, and cultural workers in the Omaha area can leverage some of the benefits of Amplify’s tax-exempt status to solicit tax-deductible donations and apply for funding without having to incorporate into a new nonprofit. Artist Grants Archive
From 2018 - 2023, Artist Grants supported Omaha-area artists and organizers working to challenge dominant systems, forge collaborations, and engage with their communities. These unrestricted awards provided direct financial support that could be used in any way that allowed artists and organizers to best continue their work.
*Although individual Slow Lab initiatives will evolve over time to address changing needs, coalition building, data gathering, and modeling organizational change are examples of ongoing projects designed to support the artists, organizers, and culture workers who make our city a more vibrant, more thoughtful, and more inclusive place.
