  • Amplify Arts 1419 South 13th Street, Suite 103 Omaha, NE, 68108 United States (map)

Setting and meeting financial goals in a gig economy can be challenging, especially for artists with multiple streams of revenue that fluctuate from year to year. How do you create a budget that accurately reflects your income? How do you responsibly allocate funds to cover your needs, wants, and still put away some money for a rainy day? What proven budgeting strategies can you implement to sustain a long-term studio practice? Join Erin Foley, Finance Manager at Film Streams, for a candid discussion about setting financial goals and sticking to them.

Working Artist Wednesdays (WAW) is Amplify Arts’ series of professional development workshops for artists that takes place on the first Wednesday of each month. WAW 2019 features 3 units, each focused on a different theme. Each unit is designed to:

  • strengthen peer networks and relationships with arts professionals,

  • promote collaborative learning,

  • give working artists tools they need to apply for grants, exhibitions, and residencies with confidence,

  • successfully start and run a small business, and

  • tap into national and local resources

Unit 3 in 2019 is devoted to strategic financial planning, setting goals, and learning more about practical approaches to stay on track and tools keep those goals within reach. All four sessions in Unit 3 will be led by visual artist and Film Streams’ Finance Manager, Erin Foley. Each session is $5.00 or purchase a year-long Amplify Arts’ Artist Membership for $60 and attend a year of WAW sessions for free, plus access a host of other benefits throughout the year.

All sessions are free for UNO students with a valid student ID. Special thanks to UNO's College of Communication, Fine Arts, and Media and their Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Franchising for making this partnership possible.

*Each session is recorded on video and uploaded to Vimeo with captions, so even if you can't come in person, register anyways and we'll send you the recording after.
